This post is incredibly overdue and is from last year’s USA road trip, when we camped in Zion and decided to wake up early and hike Angels Landing.
As someone who is afraid of heights (like, completely petrified) I still wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and witness the magnificent views that everyone boasts about on completion of the hike. Now, I’ll be honest, I didn’t quite make it to the very end of Angels Landing, but you’ll see how far I got in the video below. And might I add, there was so many people who made it to the base of the final stretch to complete the hike, but who changed their mind after seeing just how dangerous the last leg was. This face (my brother who hiked alongside me) should give you an idea:
In fact, I’ll always remember this small family who decided to take on the hike – Mum, Dad and two little girls, probably between 7 and 10 years old. One of the girls decided she didn’t want to carry on and wanted to stay with Mum, the other wanted to go with Dad and finish the hike. Meanwhile, the mother completely lost her mind and begged Dad and daughter to rethink yelling (yes, yelling, so loud) “it’s not worth it!”
Anyway, I digress… Angels Landing was AMAZING and I would really recommend you get to it if you find yourself in Zion National Park. Seriously though, this video will paint a much better picture of the hike – enjoy!
